Description: So you’re a leader of a team. Now what? Attend MCEA’s Leadership Team Institute, which has four modules:
- Learning to Lead: Effective facilitation skills and leadership dispositions make each member of a team stronger and make the whole team more effective.
- Stronger Together: Clear roles, strong skills and proven tools allow teams to collaborate on what matters most for teaching and learning. Focus on team functions, culture, conflict management and decision making.
- Collaborative Planning: Learn how to shift from “running a meeting” to cultivating collaboration and immediately apply new tools, structures and processes to help the individuals in your group become a collaborative team focused on teaching and learning.
- Culture, Climate & Engagement: Improving the culture and climate of a school requires effective skills and leadership dispositions. Learn how to determine root causes, hold courageous conversations and develop strong improvement plans that focus on improving overall school climate and culture.

Description: Leading for Professional and Student Engagement in Fine Arts Institute has four modules:
- Learning to Lead: Effective facilitation skills and leadership dispositions make each fine arts educator stronger and more effective. Focus on your personal development as a leader.
- Stronger Together: Identify and prioritize professional issues in the fine arts that need advocacy leaders. Develop key skills in the area of organizing, activating and developing leaders to create change.
- Collaborative Planning: Explore how an interest-based problem solving approach can be an effective strategy to help fine arts advocates effectively collaborate with stakeholders to discover win-win solutions.
- Culture, Climate & Engagement: Learn how to develop programs, plans and campaigns to tap into the energy associated with professional issues in the fine arts.
Course: Equity Works: Learning, Leading, and Liberation

Description: Equity Works: Learning, Leading and Liberation (EW) consists of four (4) 7.5 hour sessions and fifteen hours of follow-up projects and assignments that include implementation, discussion and research to support the in-course learning that cumulatively make up a 3 Credit Experience. EW is appropriate for any teacher seeking to be a stronger, more effective leader that understands equitable practices and is culturally competent. EW has 4 modules:
- Module 1: Elements of Equity Literacy: A focus on identity, privilege and identity allow teachers to examine their own bias and begin to develop an asset based approach to instruction.
- Module 2: Intersectional Approaches to Race and Gender: Focus on the institutional injustices and presuppositions associated with race and gender that perpetuate achievement and opportunity gaps in our schools. This allows participants to consider avenues for advocacy as leaders in their schools.
- Module 3: Learning through Culture and Equity: A focus on Culture, climate and engagement allow teachers to plan for what matters most in teaching and learning. Learn engagement and asset based approaches to instruction.
- Module 4: Leading and Coaching through Equity: Focus on the courageous conversations that help teams and colleagues develop strong improvement plans focusing on closing achievement gaps and creating opportunities for equity.
