Come to the Leadership Team Institute!
The Leadership Team Institute consists of four sessions. All sessions are at the MCEA office – 12 Taft Court. Limited seats are available, as these sessions always fill quickly and please commit as soon as possible. Because of the high demand, if you register and fail to attend without notification one week before the date of the module, you will be assessed a $100 fee – the amount of resources that have been spent to prepare a quality experience for each person. Who Should Come?
Team Leaders, Resource Teachers, Elected Faculty Reps, MCEA Reps, other School Leadership Team Members and anyone seeking to improve their facilitative and collaborative leadership competencies or improve their school’s culture.
Module 1: Learning to Lead – March 11, 8:00am-4pm
Effective facilitation skills and leadership dispositions make each member of a team stronger and make the whole team more effective. Focus on your development as a leader. Learn how to be assertive, how to use collaborative tools, and how to run an effective problem-solving meeting. You will be able to immediately apply the skills, tools and processes you learn in your next meeting.
Module 2: Stronger Together –March 18, 8:00am-4pm
Clear roles, strong skills and proven tools allow teams to collaborate on what matters most for teaching and learning. Focus on team functions, culture, conflict management and decision making. Learn how to assess your team’s effectiveness and immediately apply new tools, structures and processes to help a team grow towards stronger practices.
Module 3: Collaborative Planning – April 29. 8:00am-4pm
Clear roles, strong skills and proven tools allow teams to collaborate on what matters most for teaching and learning. More than running a meeting, collaboration requires a strong focus on student needs, team functions, reflective practices, and decision making. Learn how to shift from “running a meeting” to cultivating collaboration and immediately apply new tools, structures and processes to help the individuals in your group become a collaborative team focused on teaching and learning.
Module 4: Culture, Climate & Engagement– May 6, 8:00am-4pm
Improving the culture and climate of a school requires effective skills and leadership dispositions. Learn how to determine root causes, hold courageous conversations and develop strong improvement plans that focus on improving overall school climate and culture. You will be able to immediately apply new skills, tools and processes you learn to promote a strong and collegial school. Note: MODULE 4 IS BEST EXPERIENCED WITH A TEAM FROM A SCHOOL – However, individuals may register to attend without a team.
CPD Credit Option
MCEA is a MSDE Approved PD Provider. If you successfully complete all four modules of the Leadership Team Institute and an additional 15 hours of follow-up assignments, you are eligible to receive 3 CPD. If you are a full member of MCEA, these are provided free, if you are a fee-payer or non-member the cost for these are $100.
