Description: MCEA National Board Jump Start is a four-day comprehensive seminar designed to provide new National Board candidates with important information about the certification process, time to examine component and Assessment Center requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements, and time to collaborate, gather resources and information needed to pursue certification – all in a supportive, constructive, and collegial environment.

Description: This course is intended for National Board candidates registered for Component 2 for the 2017-2018 candidate cycle. Participants will gather and analyze information about individual students’ strengths and needs and use that information to design and implement instruction to advance student learning and achievement. They will evaluate learning strengths and needs for individual students; plan and implement appropriate differentiated instruction for those students; and analyze and modify instructional strategies and materials based on ongoing assessment.

Description: This course is intended for National Board candidates registered for Component 3 for the 2017-2018 candidate cycle. Participants will provide and analyze instructional planning, direct evidence of teaching practices from two video recordings and instructional materials, and analyze and reflect on teaching displayed in two video recordings. Participants will learn to analyze evidence of their practice as it relates to instruction, student engagement, and the learning environment. They will focus on improving key practices: interactions with students, climate of an instructional setting, and the ways to engage students in learning. They will learn how to provide an analytical examination of instruction: connect what they did with what they see in the evidence of student learning, examine the effectiveness of their actions, their possible options, and the potential effects of those options.

Description: This course is intended for National Board candidates registered for Component 4 for the 2017-2018 candidate cycle. Participants will learn how to identify and analyze their abilities as an effective and reflective practitioner in developing and applying their knowledge of their students. They will gather information from a variety of sources about a group of students; use assessments to effectively plan for and positively impact their students’ learning; and provide evidence of their collaboration with families and caregivers, the community, and colleagues and of their contributions to learning communities to advance students’ learning and growth. They will reflect on their practice of gathering and using information about students and how they can best contribute to positive changes for students and your practice.

Description: This course is intended for NBCTs registered for their Renewal process for Component 4 for the 2017-2018 renewal cycle. Participants will articulate and examine how their teaching practices continue to align with the Five Core Propositions in their initial certificate area. Participants will identify and analyze professional growth activities, which include ongoing development of certificate-specific content knowledge, as well as pedagogical and technological skills, obtained through workshops, courses, and readings of current professional literature. They will provide sufficient evidence of such continued professional growth that has focused on increased student learning.
